This is a second year typographic poster project, which required us to design a poster, advertising a given typeface in order to bring it into a modern age. I was given Dot Matrix,a font designed by Cornel Windlin & Stephen Muller in the 1990’s. Dot Matrix is based on early screen fonts and the dot matrix printers of the 1970’s, and I took this as inspiration. As dot matrix printers of old would have punched the holes to create letters, modern ones use CMYK. I used Cyan, Magenta and Yellow to create the Black dots, eventually developing it into a CMYK alphabet.
